It was just another Wednesday evening and we thought we deserved sushi because you know – Sushi! But our plans were changed when we saw La Huaca on Harrison Street in downtown Hollywood Florida.
Perhaps because it is more frequented by tourists, Hollywood Boulevard is always busy. Surprisingly many restaurants come and go even with that amount of traffic. Harrison street is the calmer and much less traveled part of downtown Hollywood. That’s rather unfortunate because this is where much of the culinary magic happens. So if I’m going to recommend one street or the other, try Harrison street.
La Huaca is a large restaurant for this street and if you have missed it repeatedly you need to visit. And I mean soon.
If you don’t live near Hollywood this one is worth the trip.
Their modestly priced meals are well worth it, and their service is quick and professional. I’ve been to a different Peruvian restaurant, and this one hand’s down is much better; the location is better, the service is better, and yes the food is better, much better.
My wife had the Ceviche Mixto, a generous portion of fresh seafood and fish in a traditional style ceviche. I had the Arroz Con Mariscos. I’ve actually made my own version of paella before so I know the dish, our Columbian friends even gave their “OK” to the dish. Hopefully, they were not just being nice. The paella here at La Huaca was fantastic as well. Seasonings were perfect and perfect is the term that needs to be used. We were definitely happy we came and we will return soon.
La Huaca is located on 2000 Harrison St, Hollywood FL 33020, or you can find them on the web http://lahuacaperuviancuisine.com
