Grilled Cheese – Home Cooking

You might think from this blog that I live an amazing life and eat out every day. The truth is, that no I don’t. I live a very modest life and have to budget my limited resources just like anyone else. That means I have to eat at home a lot.

So from time to time, I share my home cooked meals.

For instance this grilled cheese sandwich. It’s so easy to make and I think just about anyone can do this.

I’ll give the details as if you were making it for one, and then just double it for two.

Start with a can of tuna and drain, this works best with tuna packed in water. You can get it with oil, but that will tarnish the flavor. Add about a tablespoon of mayonnaise, a pinch of pepper, oregano, paprika, and if you live on the wild side, chili powder or curry. Then mix.

You can get frozen waffle french fries, such as what I have pictured for just $2. I baked mine for about 12 minutes at 425 in the oven. While they are baking you can heat a pan to slightly above medium and add a tablespoon of (real) butter. Then put the tuna on the bread with the cheese, press down hard, and drizzle with olive oil (on top of the bread). Carefully put that in the pan, flipping until both sides look toasted. Along the way press down on the sandwich to ensure smooth cooking.

Then plate the food with the coleslaw.

So this entire meal can be had for less than $5.

Yes, less than $5! By the way, everything you see here was for super low prices at my local Walmart. Enjoy!
