There is nothing more comfortable and nostalgic than the “Old-School” diner. The kind you would find while driving down Route 66, or perhaps on some forgotten highway in the Midwest, or right here in Hollywood Florida, on US-1, one of the most historic roads in the USA.
Jack’s Hollywood diner has character, not just with the art-deco decor, or the front which looks like a train car, but by the staff and the patrons. We call it the “cop-diner” because we always seem to see cops there on their lunch break. By the way, thank you for ALL that you do, City of Hollywood Police Department! Aside from the police, there are the neighboorhood old men discussing politics, the staff who are honest, polite and quick, and quite a few other regulars who make this diner more than interesting. This diner has been around since 1953 so it has quite the history in this area.
The food here is everything you expect from a ‘comfort food’ diner. Their menu features 24-hour breakfast and entrees ranging from roasted meatloaf and roasted turkey to burgers and salads. They also feature Italian and Greek dinner specialties.
On our last visit we had a great server and ordered the Tuna Salad Sandwich, Scrambled Eggs and Potatoes, and of course an Ice Cream Sunday (sort of) for dessert.
This is the kind of food that just for a moment lets you live in a simpler time when eggs were healthy before they became unhealthy, then healthy again, then unhealthy and who knows what is next.
My highest recommendations here would be the burgers and my Wife’s personal favorite, the Tuna Melt. I have yet to try some of the roasted turkey or Greek dishes, so my recommendations are subject to change.
Prices here are quite reasonable so if you haven’t stopped by recently you should definitely visit unless you are on the run from the law.
