This wonderful salad could set you back $14-20 at most restaurants. Here in our house, I’ve managed to make two of these salads for less than $10.
And yes, it’s remarkably easy…
At my local Walmart, I picked up a Ceasar salad “kit” – all in one bag – for about $3. This includes the dressing, shaved parmesan cheese, croutons, and the chopped salad itself. It’s a great deal on its own.
But you know I had to do more.
I purchased Kalamata olives and crumbled Feta cheese. I’m not counting the entire purchase price of those items toward the cost of the meal. Instead, I am counting in the percentage that I used. Which by the way should be less than one dollar.
Next the Shrimp…
A bag of uncooked small frozen shrimp (count about 60-80) set me back $5. It’s really the only “complicated” part of the meal. I say complicated because you actually have to put the shrimp in a pan and cook it. I used some olive oil and curry as a seasoning using a medium-high temperature setting. Remember to always wait until the shrimp change color to a nice pinkish glow, then it is ready to eat.
That’s all there is to it. Eat like a king on a court jesters income.
It looks delicious!
